You can opt to receive text messages or email alerts to notify you of activity on your accounts. This could be for withdrawals or deposits, transfers or money moving in and out of your account over a certain threshold. It’s up to you how closely you want to keep an eye on your money. Log in to online banking to set up your own alerts. But if RMCU’s systems detect fraudulent activity on their own, you’ll be notified right away, no matter what.     ## Secure messaging and information transfer  Online banking is secured and encrypted with the top security available today. But there are other electronic ways your personal data could be vulnerable. To avoid the possibility of your sensitive information being compromised, RMCU no longer allows unencrypted emails containing sensitive personal information. That way, even if an individual’s email account is compromised, personal information isn’t. If you do need to send documents to an RMCU employee, encrypting that data is simple. Just [follow these instructions](https://s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/rmcu-2022/RMCU_Security_Brochure_8.5x11_UPDATED-2023_Digital.pdf), and know that your account data is safe.    ## Know your financial institution  Your financial institution should never contact you to ask for personal information like your account number, PIN, or social security number when they call you. If you get a call from someone claiming to work with your credit union and it seems fishy, or they’re asking for personal information, hang up and call your neighborhood branch directly or use the number printed on your debit card. It’s better to be sure than to be scammed. RMCU WILL NEVER ASK YOU TO CLICK A LINK IN A TEXT MESSAGE. IF YOU RECEIVE A TEXT WITH A LINK, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK. And [this page on the RMCU site](https://www.rmcu.net/resources/your-security)curates articles about common scams and offers guidance from government agencies like the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to help you educate yourself on how to avoid fraud. While RMCU’s IT does everything it can to prevent fraud and protect your account, you are still an important gatekeeper of your account’s security.    ## Keep an eye on your credit score with SavvyMoney  While tools like [SavvyMoney](https://www.rmcu.net/savvymoney) that use a soft pull on your credit score may not give you a 100% accurate real-time view of your score, it’s still a valuable tool to keep an eye on your score in between [requesting free credit reports](https://www.consumerfinance.gov/ask-cfpb/how-do-i-get-a-free-copy-of-my-credit-reports-en-5/) from the major credit bureaus.
