Keep an eye on your score

Knowing your score in real-time is one of the top steps to help you be more credit savvy. SavvyMoney gives you a live look at your credit score straight from the RMCU app or your online banking portal. It’s as simple as logging on, opting in, and taking a look.

Be on alert

It can seem like fraud and scams are everywhere, but there are tools out there to help. That includes fraud protection from your financial institution, like alerts to suspicious transactions. But it also includes keeping an eye on your credit. If someone steals your identity without you realizing it from a stolen card or unexpected charges, your first sign that something’s up might be a drop in your score.

Skip the hard pull

You’re entitled to one free credit report every year from each major credit reporting bureau without impacting your credit score. But additional inquiries, known as hard pulls, do affect your score. But SavvyMoney uses what’s known as a soft pull to keep an eye on your credit. Those don’t appear as credit inquiries on your report, so they won’t pull that number down.

Get tips on how to improve

You might not have any control over some factors, like the age of your oldest credit line. But sometimes, the impacts on your credit score, like on-time payments or your credit utilization ratio, are within your control. SavvyMoney gives tips on improving your score, so you can work towards the number that will get you approved for the new car, home, or rewards credit card you’re dreaming of.

Built-in tools like SavvyMoney make navigating your credit and financial health easy from your RMCU account. It’s easy to get access. Existing RMCU members just need to log into online or mobile banking to take a look. Not a member? Not a problem. There are plenty of ways to qualify for RMCU, and it’s just a simple signup.
